This quilt was made especially for les Marmitons by Danielle Broelinckx from Marietta, Georgia. The idea was to use the blue and yellow colors of the organization and create a wall hanging that would remind the viewers of the art of gastronomy. The central figure is a chef tasting a dish. A soup terrine or “marmite” was quilted by hand in four places. The names of “Les Marmitons”, “Gastronomy”, “Friendship” and “Amitie” have been embroidered in medium blue alongside the four yellow borders using the same font as the website. The print used for the additional small yellow and blue border is reminiscent of fumes spreading the aromas of the delicious food present at each meeting of the chapters. This quilt was pieced by machine and over 75% is quilted by hand.
Danielle Broelinckx is a quilter from Belgian origin. She was one of the co-founders of the Belgian Quilters Guild. She had pieces exhibited in Denmark, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Belgium. She was also invited to submit a quilt for the Hands All Around Exhibition at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas. Since she immigrated to the States she has won several ribbons at shows and teaches the art of quilting at guilds and stores meanly in Georgia her adopted state.
Danielle Broelinckx est une quilteuse d’origine belge, co-fondatrice de la guilde belge. Ses oeuvres ont été exposées au Danemark, en Allemagne, en France, aux Pays-Bas et en Belgique. Elle a également été invitée a soumettre une oeuvre pour l’exposition “Hands All Around” faisant partie du Festival International du Quilt a Houston, Texas. Depuis son immigration aux Etats-Unis, elle a gagné plusieurs prix aux expositions locales. Elle enseigne l’art du piecage et ouatage dans les guildes et magasins, principalement dans l’état de Georgie, sa patrie d’adoption.
Ce quilt a été conçu spécialement pour les Marmitons par Danielle Broelinckx de Marietta, Georgia. Elle a employé les couleurs bleue et jaune de l’organisation pour créer une décoration murale qui fait penser à l’art de la gastronomie. Le panneau central est un chef goûtant un plat. Une marmite fumante a été quiltée à la main dans quatre carrés. Les noms “Les Marmitons”, “Gatronomy”, “Friendship” et “Amitié” on été brodés en bleu dans les quatre bords jaunes en employant les même lettres que le site Web. Le tissu du petit bord bleu et jaune fait penser à des volutes transportant les aromes des plats délicieux préparés à chaque réunion des chapitres. Ce quilt a été empiecé à la machine et plus de 75% de la surface est quiltée à la main.
